FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

When is a good time to come?

Our season stretches from May to September, so anytime between then.

How do I book or enquire?

Just pop us an email at info@anyexcusetoride.com. Please tell us how many you are, what dates you are looking at and try to describe your riding level (for example tell us what you normally ride).

What is the riding like?

With 6 mountainbike destinations in one valley, Hallingdal has something for everyone. From beginner to advanced, uplift assisted to big mountain hike-a-bike missions. All the singletrack you can wish for and all the different kinds - fast, flowy, technical, steep and rough. We are even within close distance of two of Norway's most well-renowned bike parks, Hemsedal and Geilo.

What is the booking process?

First you enquire, and together we decide on dates. Then you will get your first invoice, for a 20% non-refundable deposit. This deposit is to confirm your booking and agree to the terms and conditions. The remainder of the balance will be due no later than 8 weeks before your arrival date and you will receive an invoice for this in due course. A detailed kit list and itinerary will be sent to you upon receipt of your final payment.

Can I book if I'm only 1 person?

Yes, you can, but we will most probably group you together with other riders. We will of course do our very best to make sure you are on a relatively similar level, both technically and in terms of fitness.

What is the accommodation like?

FAQs

What shall I bring?

We recommend:

- An enduro bike with dual ply tyres

- Suitable protection (at least: helmet, gloves, knee pads)

- A hydration bag to carry lunch and spares in (some rides can be long)

- Spares such as: mech hanger, spokes for your wheel and spare brake pads (it can be difficult to get specialist spare parts quickly here)

- Your EHIC card and MTB specific insurance (such as Dogtag for example)

We will send you a detailed kit list when the final payment is received.

Do you cater for gluten free/lactose free/vegan/other?

Yes, we will do our best to cater for your special dietary requests, we usually cook pescatarian food. Please tell us about your dietary requests as early as possible when you enquire.

What is the weather like?

Nesbyen is the warmest place in Norway, but the weather can be a little unpredictable. We advice all our guests to pack both for sunny and warm weather but to also bring a thermal layer and waterproofs. Please keep an eye on the weather report in the days leading up to your trip, we recommend the Norwegian weather service YR.no.

How do I get there?

For international guests you should fly to Oslo Gardemoen or Oslo Torp, where we can pick you up. Airport pickup is included if you book the long-weekend or one week package.

If you come by train (from Oslo or Bergen) you should get off at "Nesbyen (Station)" and for those arriving by bus the stop is called "Nesbyen Shell". If you are driving, our adress is "Alfarvegen 118, 3540 Nesbyen".

Can I rent a bike?

Most of our guests chose to bring their own bike. If you would like to rent a bike we can help arrange rental from a local service.
